Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralised two suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted civilian during a joint operation in Olamaboro Local Government Area.
Details of the operation were shared by Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources as confirming that the mission was carried out around 9:16 a.m. on May 3. The operation involved troops of the 12 Brigade stationed at the Ofante–Unyi Ogugu Patrol Base, working in collaboration with police personnel.
According to the sources, the troops acted on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of a civilian in Orakam village. Acting swiftly, the joint security team traced the suspects to a hideout located at Adego Trailer Park.
Upon arrival, the operatives encountered the kidnappers, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
“They added that two kidnappers were neutralised during the exchange of fire, while others fled the scene,” Makama said.
During the operation, the abducted victim was successfully rescued, marking a key outcome of the mission.
Security operatives also recovered a mobile phone and the sum of N40,000 from the scene, believed to be linked to the suspects.
Authorities have indicated that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing members of the group and dismantle the criminal network operating within the area.
