Troops Kill Kidnapper, Rescue Victim in Enugu

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation UDO KA have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim during a security operation in Udenu Local Government Area.

The operation, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, followed a distress call relayed by the Nigeria Police Force through its Obolo Division after a report from the Ezimo Community Neighbourhood Watch.

Sources said troops from the 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA responded swiftly, moving into the area where they engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle.

“One of the suspects was neutralised, while others fled into the surrounding bush,” one of the sources said.

During a follow-up search, the troops successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered several items at the scene, including mobile phones, a power bank, a torchlight, clothing, food items, and energy drinks.

“The corpse of the neutralised suspect and the rescued victim were handed over to the police for further action,” the source added.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and maintain security in the area.
