Troops Kill 20 Terrorists in Yobe Operation

In a significant operation, soldiers from the Joint Task Force (North East), specifically those stationed in Goniri as part of Sector 2 of OPHK, successfully thwarted an attack by bandits.

During the engagement in Goniri, Yobe State, more than 20 of the attackers were neutralized.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, who serves as the Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, released a statement explaining how the incident unfolded.

He noted that surveillance assets first picked up on the bandits’ movements as they advanced from both Goniri village and the Ngamdu junction. Their coordinated approach suggested an attempt to surround the military base.

The statement further detailed that the brave officers quickly engaged the attackers, employing superior firepower and strategic maneuvers.

This decisive action resulted in the elimination of over 20 terrorists, among whom was a high-ranking commander known as Abu Yusu, identified as the Munzir of Dursula.

Following the retreat of the attackers, the troops secured numerous bodies of the terrorists, alongside a cache of weapons and equipment left behind. The recovered items included multiple machine guns, AK-47 rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bombs, and various types of ammunition.

“Further exploitation and clearance operations by troops in the general area of Gwaigomari within the Timbuktu Triangle led to the discovery of additional terrorist bodies during follow-up patrols conducted up to the early hours of Wednesday, 11 March 2026.” The statement added.

It was also reported that any troops who sustained injuries during the intense encounter were promptly evacuated for medical attention and are currently in stable condition.
