Troops of the Nigerian Army have ramped up security operations in Anwar Hali village, located in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following the discovery of a suspected kidnap threat letter.
According to security sources, the incident occurred on May 1 when residents alerted troops operating under Sector 7, Sub-Sector 75, about a suspicious message found within the community.
The letter, reportedly written in Hausa, allegedly contained two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition along with a telephone number believed to have been provided by those behind the threat.
In response, troops moved quickly to assess the situation, reportedly establishing contact with the number and recording the conversation as part of preliminary investigative efforts.
“The situation is being handled with due diligence, and efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend those behind the threat,” a security source said.
Authorities have reassured residents of their safety, noting that surveillance and patrol activities have been significantly intensified across the area to deter any potential attack.
Security officials also emphasised the importance of proactive engagement and rapid response in addressing emerging threats, adding that such measures are critical to maintaining public confidence in affected communities.
