Troops Foil Terrorist Attack in Zamfara, 2 Villagers Killed

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a terrorist attack on Maiwa village in Maru Local Government Area after responding swiftly to a distress call.

The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources.

According to the report, troops moved to the area around 5:30 p.m. on March 25 following alerts of an ongoing attack. On arrival, they encountered local vigilantes already engaged in a gun battle with the attackers.

The troops reportedly reinforced the vigilantes, forcing the assailants to retreat into nearby bush areas.

During a follow-up search of the area, it was discovered that two villagers had been killed in the exchange of gunfire.

“Troops maintained a sustained presence in the area and continued aggressive patrols aimed at denying the terrorists freedom of movement and preventing further attacks,” Makama said.

Security forces are said to be maintaining patrols in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
