Plateau Police Arrest Kidnappers, Gunrunners Ahead of Easter

Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested suspected kidnappers, terrorists, and gunrunners during coordinated raids across the state ahead of the Easter period.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ewah Bassey, said the operations followed intelligence-led investigations that exposed criminal hideouts.

The crackdown led to the arrest of two suspects linked to a kidnapping incident in Gada Biu, where a victim was robbed and briefly held captive.

“Upon receipt of this report, I directed the Officer in Charge of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to immediately swing into action and arrest the hoodlums,” Bassey said.

Police also arrested three suspects in Shendam LGA, recovering AK-47 rifles and ammunition during the operation.

“Acting swiftly on the tip-off, authorities apprehended three individuals identified as Taimako Luwe, Korbe Gobakji, and Nandang Zingchang,” he added.

The command said investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to arrest other suspects and bring those in custody to justice.
