Two sailboats carrying humanitarian aid from Mexico to Cuba have safely arrived in Havana after briefly going missing due to bad weather, easing concerns about the crew’s safety.
The vessels, which departed Isla Mujeres on March 20, lost communication during the journey but were later spotted by Mexico’s navy near Cuba before completing their trip.
Coordinator Adnaan Stumo said harsh weather caused the delay and thanked authorities for their support, adding that the team was “delighted” to begin delivering aid.
“We arrive with a simple but powerful message: solidarity with the Cuban people doesn’t stop at borders. It crosses oceans,” he said.
Organisers also confirmed the crew was safe and that the mission to deliver essential supplies remains on track.
