The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two high-profile terrorist commanders linked to the ambush and killing of security personnel in Garga Community, Kanam LGA.
Commissioner of Police Ewah Bassey made the announcement on Saturday while presenting 22 suspects in Jos, stating that the arrests followed an intensive, intelligence-led operation.
The attack, which occurred on March 13, 2026, saw bandits from the Madami forest open fire on a joint team of soldiers and vigilante members, killing 20 soldiers and eight vigilantes, including senior army officers.
According to the police, swift investigations led to the capture of the suspects at their hideouts.
“Following the devastating attack which led to the death of soldiers and vigilante officers, the command immediately swung into action and using intelligence-led investigation, two of the terrorist commanders were arrested in their hideouts,” the CP said.
“We couldn’t sleep over the incident, so we made serious investigation and they’re undergoing thorough investigation which they’re making useful information,” he added.
Police also paraded other suspects connected to kidnapping, illegal arms possession, rape, and cattle rustling across the state.
