UAE Intercepts 20 Missiles, 37 Drones in Iranian Attack

The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses intercepted 20 ballistic missiles and 37 drones overnight, describing the incident as part of ongoing “blatant Iranian attacks.”

In an update released Saturday, officials revealed that nearly two years of hostilities have seen 398 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,872 drones successfully intercepted.

The defense ministry confirmed 11 deaths linked to the attacks, including two UAE soldiers and a Moroccan civilian, attributing the casualties to “hostile actions” originating from Iran.

Hours before the announcement, five people were reported to have sustained minor injuries in Abu Dhabi after missile debris fell in a residential area.

Although the UAE has not formally declared war, it has been repeatedly targeted by Iran-backed groups. By directly labeling the strikes as Iranian, authorities appear to be placing increased responsibility on Tehran.

The government has not announced retaliation but is calling for stronger international pressure on Iran to stop supplying advanced weapons to its regional allies.
