Kebbi Govt Sets Up Committee to Probe Death of Two Children

The Kebbi State Government has set up a special committee to investigate the death of two children at the General Hospital in Zuru.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Yahaya Sarki.

Governor Nasir Idris approved the formation of the committee to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which involved two children reportedly from the same family.

According to the statement, the committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, while the Commissioners for Health and Establishment, Sama’ila Augie and Manu Dogondaji, will serve as members.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Zaki Abubakar Zaki, will act as the committee’s secretary.

The panel has been tasked with investigating both the immediate and underlying causes of the deaths, including claims that the children may have received a wrong injection.

It is also expected to identify those connected to the incident, establish responsibility where necessary, and recommend measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The committee has been given one week to submit its findings and has been directed to begin work immediately.
