Suspected kidnappers have abducted a 60-year-old man in Ibadan, raising fresh concerns over security in parts of the state capital.
The victim was reportedly taken on Saturday while returning to his residence in the Jinarere area of Alakia.
According to available information, the attackers struck along the Alakia Road axis, intercepting him before fleeing with him.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said security operatives have commenced efforts to rescue the victim and track down those responsible.
Providing details of the incident, he stated:
“Preliminary information reveals that the victim, a 60-year-old male and building materials trader, was accosted while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road by four masked armed men, who forcefully whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle”.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspects, but investigations are ongoing as security agencies intensify efforts to ensure the victim’s safe return.
