Former Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that Mohamed Salah made a key mistake by remaining at the club following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
Salah joined the Reds shortly after Klopp took charge, and the duo enjoyed a highly successful period together, winning major trophies including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Following Klopp’s exit in 2024, Arne Slot took over and guided the team to a league title in his first season. However, tensions have reportedly developed between Slot and Salah during the current campaign, eventually leading to the forward confirming his decision to leave.
Carragher believes the situation could have been avoided had Salah departed earlier, especially after Klopp’s exit.
“Salah’s biggest mistake might have been staying after Klopp left.
“After all he’s done for Liverpool, this is a rough way to say goodbye.
“We’ve seen it with Ronaldo too—problems with the manager can destroy your confidence. It’s sad to watch.”
