JAMB Denies UTME 2026 Postponement Report

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed reports claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the information as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Saturday, the examination body urged candidates and the public to ignore the circulating notice, stressing that it did not originate from the board.

“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release alleging that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. We wish to state clearly that the notice is fake and did not emanate from the board. Candidates and the general public are advised to disregard it. All arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain on course as scheduled,” JAMB stated.

The board reaffirmed that the UTME is scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026, as previously announced.

This clarification follows the recent mock UTME conducted on March 28, which experienced technical challenges in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

JAMB disclosed that out of over 224,000 candidates who registered for the mock exercise, more than 152,000 successfully completed the test across 989 centres.

It added that over 20 CBT centres affected by technical issues have since been removed due to inadequate infrastructure.
