Manchester City are reportedly lining up Enzo Maresca as the leading candidate to replace Pep Guardiola, should the current manager decide to leave.
Guardiola’s future at the Etihad Stadium has been the subject of growing speculation, with reports suggesting he could step down from his role as early as this summer. The club is still awaiting a clear decision from the Spaniard regarding his long-term plans.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are prepared to respect Guardiola’s choice while quietly identifying a successor.
“Manchester City will let Pep Guardiola decide what he wants to do with his future.
“As reported since January, Enzo Maresca is the favorite candidate if/when Pep decides to leave.
“Despite reports on Kompany, #MCFC really appreciate Maresca.”
Maresca, who previously worked within Manchester City’s coaching setup, is highly regarded by the club’s hierarchy, making him a strong option if Guardiola eventually departs.
