EPL: Pressure Now on Man City After Arsenal Win – Paul Merson

Former England international Paul Merson has said the momentum in the Premier League title race has swung in favour of Arsenal, placing fresh pressure on Manchester City.

Arsenal’s dominant 3–0 victory over Fulham saw them extend their lead at the top of the table to six points, at least temporarily, as City prepare to play their outstanding fixtures.

Viktor Gyökeres starred with a brace, while Bukayo Saka also found the net in a performance that underlined Arsenal’s title credentials.

City, managed by Pep Guardiola, now face a crucial run of games, starting with a clash against Everton, as they look to close the gap.

Reacting to the result on Sky Sports, Merson said the pressure has clearly shifted to the defending champions.

“For the next four or five days until Man City play Everton and Brentford next week. The pressure is on them now…

“Fair play to Arsenal, after that absolute nightmare against Bournemouth, to bounce back the way they have to get these two results is massive.

“In his wildest dreams last night laying in bed, Arteta couldn’t have dreamt that [tonight’s performance].”
