Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has offered an update on the fitness of Ademola Lookman and Alexander Sorloth ahead of his side’s LaLiga encounter with Elche CF on Wednesday.
Lookman sustained an adductor injury during Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey final defeat to Real Sociedad last weekend and was substituted in the 63rd minute, with Nicolas Gonzalez coming on in his place.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Simeone indicated that both players are being closely monitored following their injuries.
“Well, we will see how Alex Sorloth and Lookman recover from this minor injury they have had.
“Hopefully, they will be fully recovered by Saturday, which is possible, according to the doctors, who are more knowledgeable.”
The manager’s comments suggest that while both players remain doubtful for the immediate fixture, there is optimism within the club that they could return to action soon, depending on their recovery progress.
Atletico Madrid will be hoping for positive updates as they continue their LaLiga campaign, with squad fitness playing a key role in maintaining momentum during a demanding schedule.
