JAMB Reveals Why Some UTME Candidates See ‘No Result Yet’

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has clarified the reason behind the “No Result Yet” status being displayed for some candidates attempting to check their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board explained that the message applies specifically to underage candidates whose results have not yet been released.

It stated, “Results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet.’”

JAMB reiterated that eligibility for the UTME requires candidates to be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026.

“As stipulated by regulation, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30th September 2026 are eligible,” the board said.

However, the board noted that there are provisions for exceptional cases involving academically outstanding candidates.

It explained that such candidates may still be considered under a special category if they meet strict performance benchmarks.

“Underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80% in subsequent screening stages.”

JAMB further clarified that only candidates who meet the 320 score threshold will proceed to the next phase of evaluation.

“In line with the agreement reached and endorsed by parents of these underage candidates, only those who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stages of the screening,” the statement noted.

For now, the board maintained that the results of underage candidates will remain withheld pending the outcome of the screening process.
