Ademola Lookman has revealed the two toughest defenders he has faced during his professional career, singling out Reece James and Virgil van Dijk.
The Atletico Madrid forward, who has built his career across multiple European leagues including England, Germany, and Italy, has come up against some of the game’s top defenders.
However, he admitted that a select few have stood out as particularly difficult to play against.
In an interview with ESPN FC, Lookman was asked to name the toughest opponent he has faced, and he pointed to both James and Van Dijk as the players who gave him the most problems.
“There are a few, Reece James, I would say Van Dijk.”
Lookman’s career journey has taken him through several clubs, including Everton, Leicester City, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Charlton Athletic, before his move to Atletico Madrid.
Since joining the Spanish side from Atalanta, the Nigerian international has continued to impress with his attacking performances.
He now turns his focus to a crucial European fixture, as Atletico Madrid prepare to face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg, where Lookman will be hoping to play a key role.
