Nigeria women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, has arrived in Lyon ahead of the upcoming FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
The team touched down on Monday and is scheduled to compete in the qualifying tournament from March 11 to March 15.
During the competition, the Nigerian side will face Colombia, South Korea, the Philippines, and host nation France. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team taking on all the others.
These fixtures form part of the global qualification process organised by the International Basketball Federation. Participating teams are required to deliver strong performances in order to secure a place in the next FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
D’Tigress, the reigning African champions, are aiming to maintain their impressive form and book their place at the world championship.
The team is expected to begin training sessions immediately in Lyon, where the coaching crew will focus on sharpening tactics and improving player fitness ahead of their opening game on March 11.
