Stanley Boateng has been appointed as an assistant coach for Nigeria’s senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress.
His addition strengthens the coaching setup under head coach Rena Wakama, as the team continues preparations for upcoming international competitions.
D’Tigress, who are reigning African champions, have already traveled to the United States for an intensive training tour ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup. The tour is expected to sharpen the team’s competitiveness against top-level opposition.
As part of their preparations, the Nigerian side will play a series of friendly matches against WNBA teams, including the Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, and Indiana Fever.
These games are seen as a valuable opportunity for the squad to test tactics and build cohesion against elite competition.
Attention will also turn to Europe, where the draw for the FIBA Women’s World Cup is set to be held in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday.
The outcome will determine Nigeria’s group-stage opponents as they aim to make a strong impact on the global stage.
