Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on Noni Madueke, confirming that his recent knee injury is not as serious as initially feared.
Madueke was forced off during England national team’s 1-1 friendly draw with Uruguay at Wembley, raising concerns about his fitness.
However, Arteta revealed the winger could return within days.
“No, it’s not [that serious]… it’s nowhere near that injury so that was really good news,” he said.
In contrast, Eberechi Eze remains sidelined with a calf injury and will miss Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton.
Arteta added that the recovery timeline for Eze remains uncertain.
There was, however, encouraging news for Arsenal, with Martin Ødegaard and Jurriën Timber both in contention to feature in the upcoming match.
