Trump Removes US Army Chief in Shake-Up

The administration of Donald Trump has removed the U.S. Army’s top officer, Randy George, in a major military shake-up alongside two other senior officials.

The decision, confirmed by the United States Department of Defense, comes as American forces remain engaged in ongoing military operations involving Iran.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly asked George to step down, with Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stating that the general “will be retiring from his position, effective immediately.”

General George, who served nearly four decades in the military with deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, had been leading the Army during the current conflict.

Reports indicate that Christopher LaNeve will take over as acting chief of staff.

The shake-up also saw the removal of David Hodne and William Green Jr.

The move is part of a broader restructuring under Trump’s administration, which previously included the dismissal of Charles Q. Brown Jr and other top military officials across multiple branches.

While officials have defended the changes as part of leadership restructuring, critics have raised concerns about potential political influence on the traditionally non-partisan military.
