Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described Arsenal as the standout team in Europe’s top competitions this season.
Guardiola made the remark after his side were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid in the Round of 16 on Tuesday.
The Spaniard watched as the LaLiga side secured a 2-1 victory in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, sealing their progression after a 3-0 win in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Speaking during his post-match interview, Guardiola praised Arsenal’s current form, insisting they have been the most impressive side both in England and across Europe so far this campaign.
“We will challenge against the best team [Arsenal] in England, so far, the best team in Europe, look at the results in the Champions League group stage.
“They have been the first. They have maybe lost three or four games this season.
“We will have to play them (in Carabao Cup final), after one or two weeks, we play them in the Premier League.”
