Carlo Ancelotti, currently in charge of the Brazil national football team, has identified Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) as his favourite to lift this season’s UEFA Champions League trophy.
PSG have been in impressive form throughout the tournament and secured their place in the semi-finals with a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory over Liverpool FC.
It marks the second consecutive season the French side has eliminated Liverpool from the competition, underlining their growing dominance on the European stage.
Up next, PSG will face Bayern Munich in what promises to be a high-stakes semi-final clash. On the other side of the bracket, Arsenal FC are set to meet Atletico Madrid, ensuring a competitive finish to the tournament.
Despite the quality of teams remaining, Ancelotti believes PSG have the edge and can successfully defend their title. His assessment reflects both their current form and the unpredictable nature of the competition.
Speaking in an interview with Il Giornale, he pointed to the entertainment value and competitiveness of this season’s matches.
“I’ve seen some amazing high-scoring games, like Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona and Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid, which were exciting for the fans.
“The Champions League is a tournament that doesn’t always favor the top teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City, but it’s still a competition where teams can improve and grow.”
