Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has suggested that the 2027 presidential election may be a foregone conclusion in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
In a post shared on X, Omokri pointed to the large turnout that welcomed Tinubu during his visit to Bayelsa State as a sign of growing support.
He wrote: “Bayelsa was created on Tuesday, October 1, 1996, and since that date, Bayelsans have rarely seen the kind of crowd that trooped out yesterday for President Tinubu.
“Maybe this happened under President Jonathan, who is a native of Bayelsa; however, the crowd was massive, active, and supportive. And the people, in their humongous numbers, kept coming. I have been to Bayelsa multiple times.”
Omokri concluded that such support could translate nationwide, adding that the 2027 election could become “more or less a formality.”
