Shekarau’s Return Boosts APC in Kano — Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has formally welcomed the return of former governor and senator, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the development as a major step forward for the party in the state.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad. In the statement, Yusuf highlighted the political significance of Shekarau’s return, noting that it is expected to strengthen the party’s standing as it looks ahead to future elections.

According to the governor, the process for formally receiving the former governor into the party is already underway.

“A date will soon be fixed, in consultation with the national secretariat of the party, for the formal reception of the former Governor into the APC fold,” the governor said.

Yusuf further emphasized that the APC is gaining increasing traction across Kano State, pointing to what he described as a steady rise in support and internal consolidation.

He stated that “the party in Kano continues to witness growing support and consolidation, positioning itself as the most dominant political force in the state.”

Expressing optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, the governor said APC is well-positioned to compete effectively in upcoming polls. He attributed this confidence to improving unity within the party and ongoing strategic political alignments aimed at strengthening its base.

In addition, Yusuf reassured party members and supporters that efforts are being intensified to build stronger internal cohesion while expanding grassroots support across the state.

He also called on loyalists to remain dedicated and proactive, urging them to continue mobilising support as the party prepares for future political contests.
