Senator Ipalibo Banigo, representing Rivers West, has officially switched her political allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Banigo formally announced her resignation during a plenary session at the Senate on Tuesday, March 10.
The lawmaker stated her intention to align politically with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
She also expressed her desire to support efforts aimed at advancing development within Rivers State.
In the letter, which was read on the floor of the Senate by Akpabio, the lawmaker further clarified that her decision to join the APC was made after extensive consultations with her constituents and political associates.
