The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged its members to set aside personal ambitions and focus on working together for the overall interest of the party.
This call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Expanded Emergency Meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) held on Wednesday.
In the communiqué, the BoT appreciated the support, loyalty and solidarity shown by Nigerians toward the PDP, particularly as seen in the ongoing nationwide electronic registration of members. It noted that reports from across the country indicate that millions of people are registering with the party daily.
According to the board, the large influx of new members despite the party’s current challenges demonstrates that the PDP remains the preferred political platform for many Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We call on all leaders and members of our party to jettison all personal and group interests and come together as one family in the overall interest of our Party and the wellbeing of millions of Nigerians whose hopes are anchored on the PDP.
“We also commend the efforts of our Governors; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for their commitment and steadfastness towards the party and wellbeing of all Nigerians,” the BoT said.
