Noise Making, Rascality — Tinubu Slams ADC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing its recent national convention as lacking substance while reiterating his commitment to democratic governance and the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu made the remarks on Thursday while addressing the 36 state coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. In his speech, he characterised the ADC’s event as “noise making” and “rascality,” also referring to it as a “street convention.”

Despite the criticism, the President used the occasion to emphasise broader national issues, particularly the importance of democratic institutions and adherence to the rule of law.

“I am inspired. I’m ready. I am grateful to all of you. This is an opportunity of a lifetime to break the shackles of poverty and ignorance, to ensure democracy survives not the noise-making, not the rascality of a street convention.

“We cannot submit to disobedience of unlawful orders. If that is the goal, we must embrace the judiciary whether it favours us or doesn’t.

“We must submit to this principle of democracy, separation of powers, and understanding of the dynamics of it and the nationhood that Nigeria is.

“We must build one country. There is no other way. The path to national greatness is one common vision one nation for the progress and prosperity of our people. That is what you must do,” Tinubu said.

The President reaffirmed his readiness for the 2027 elections while urging supporters to remain focused on national unity, institutional respect, and collective progress.
