The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, David Mark, has moved to calm concerns within the party, assuring members that ongoing legal challenges will not derail its participation in the 2027 general elections.
Mark gave the assurance on Wednesday night following a detailed briefing from the party’s legal team regarding a recent judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The ruling had sparked uncertainty among party supporters, but Mark expressed strong confidence in the party’s legal position.
“You do not have anything to be afraid of regarding all the litigations before the party,” he said.
“I want to assure you that we shall triumph in all the cases, and we shall be on the ballot for every election.”
Reaffirming the party’s stance, he stressed its readiness to explore every available legal option to secure a favorable outcome. “We are more than ready for these cases and will do everything within the ambit of the law to surmount every situation,” Mark stated, adding that he would personally oversee the process.
According to party sources, the ADC’s legal team has already taken decisive steps by filing an appeal against the court’s decision, alongside an application for a stay of execution. These actions underline the party’s resolve to challenge the ruling and maintain its political relevance.
The reassurance comes at a crucial time as the party ramps up preparations for the 2027 elections—an electoral cycle widely seen as pivotal for strengthening its position in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Party officials believe Mark’s intervention will boost morale among members and supporters, while reinforcing confidence in the leadership’s commitment to navigating the legal hurdles ahead.
Earlier, the legal team had presented a comprehensive breakdown of the court ruling to Mark and other senior figures within the party, outlining both the implications of the judgment and the strategies being adopted to address it.
