Kwankwasiyya Movement Backs NDC Southern Presidency

Supporters of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso under the Kwankwasiyya Movement have defended the decision of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) to zone its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Habeeb Saleh, made the remarks on Monday while speaking during an interview on Arise Television.

According to Saleh, the zoning arrangement reflects the party’s belief in national unity and its commitment to ensuring fairness and stability across the country.

He explained that political decisions taken by the party are aimed at strengthening trust, mutual understanding and inclusiveness among Nigerians.

“Zoning the NDC presidency to the South is a product of believing in one Nigeria. But the reality before us is that decisions are taken that will naturally stabilize the entirety of the Nigerians,” he said.

Saleh added that such political decisions should help build confidence among citizens and assure Nigerians that party leaders and political actors are focused on protecting the country’s interests.

“That decision has to be such that it will bring in trust and mutual understanding within ourselves,” he stated.

He further said the party believes Nigerians should remain united and have confidence that those seeking political office under the platform are committed to national development.

“So justification of actually zoning this presidency to the South, the NDC believes that all Nigerians need to be in the same page. And they need to also have this confidence that the party, all those actors within the party, are such that have the Nigerian interest at heart,” he added.
