Dapo Abiodun Endorsed for Ogun East Senate 2027

Key leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun East Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind Dapo Abiodun, endorsing him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

The endorsement was made public on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode. The gathering brought together influential figures within the party, including members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, current and former local government chairmen, lawmakers at both state and national levels, as well as councillors, youth leaders, and women representatives from across the district.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, former Ogun East senator Lekan Mustapha said the decision was driven by a shared belief in Abiodun’s capacity to represent the district effectively at the national level.

He added that the party leadership plans to formally convey the endorsement to the governor, including a pledge to support his candidacy.

“We will put a body together to deliver this message to our governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate,” he said.

Also addressing the gathering, the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, described the endorsement as both historic and unanimous, noting that it reflects widespread confidence in the governor’s leadership and achievements.

“This endorsement is historic and unanimous. It reflects the collective belief that Gov. Dapo Abiodun is the right person for the position,” Talabi said.

A member of the House of Representatives, Femi Ogunbanwo, also commended the governor’s administration, stating that it has brought stability and development to the state. He expressed optimism that Abiodun would deliver even greater benefits to Ogun East if elected to the Senate.

Similarly, the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Afolabi Odulate, praised the governor’s performance and urged him to accept the call to contest.
