APGA Unveils Timetable, Fees for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially unveiled its provisional timetable and activity schedule for selecting candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and communicated through a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara. Alongside the timetable, the party also released details of the fees required for nomination forms across various elective positions.

According to the statement, the outlined schedule is designed to align with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) updated roadmap for the 2027 elections, while also reflecting the party’s internal guidelines.

“This in compliance with the revised INEC timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election dated February 26, 2026, and pursuant to its powers under the APGA constitution 2019 and the Electoral Act 2026,” the statement said.

Under the proposed timeline, aspirants interested in contesting under the APGA platform are expected to begin with the purchase and submission of expression of interest forms, a process scheduled to take place between April 20 and May 8.

Following this phase, the party will conduct screening exercises to assess the eligibility of aspirants. Candidates seeking seats in the National Assembly will be screened on May 11, those vying for positions in State Houses of Assembly on May 12, and governorship aspirants on May 13.

The party had earlier clarified during its South-East regional convention in Awka that the expression of interest stage is separate from the nomination process. Only aspirants who successfully pass the screening will qualify to proceed to the next step—purchasing nomination forms.

Sales of nomination forms are set to begin on May 14 and will close on May 21, giving qualified aspirants a limited window to complete the process.

APGA also outlined the cost of participation, with expression of interest forms priced at N25 million for presidential aspirants, N6 million for Senate seats, N4 million for House of Representatives, N10 million for governorship positions, and N2 million for State Assembly contests.

The timetable further indicates that all primary elections across the various categories will be conducted on May 23, 2026. The party has chosen the Option A4 voting method for the exercise, a system that involves open ballot voting. Any disputes or appeals arising from the primaries are scheduled to be resolved on May 28, 2026.

With this structured timeline, APGA appears to be positioning itself early for the 2027 elections, setting clear guidelines for aspirants and reinforcing its internal processes ahead of the nationwide polls.
