APC Enugu Denies Crisis, Dismisses Resignation Claims

The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting internal crisis, describing claims of mass resignations and unpaid delegate stipends as baseless.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Uche Obute, the party insisted there was no unrest among delegates who attended the recent national convention. It labeled the allegations as misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary tension within its ranks.

Obute described the claims as “concocted stories” designed to distract the party from its focus on strengthening its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also rejected suggestions that members were leaving due to marginalisation, instead crediting the leadership of Peter Mbah for expanding its influence across the state.

According to the APC, its presence in Enugu has grown significantly, with elected officials at both national and state levels, as well as local government leaders, now aligned with the party.

“The Governor is widely known for his inclusive leadership style, carrying along both members of the old APC bloc and new entrants into the party,” the statement partly read.

The party further pointed to its leadership structure as evidence of inclusiveness, noting that members from earlier factions still hold key positions.

“Both the old and new blocs are fully accommodated at all levels of party leadership, from the wards to the local government areas and the state structure.”

Reaffirming unity under state chairman Martin Chukwunweike, the APC urged members and the public to ignore what it described as misinformation, expressing confidence in its continued growth ahead of future elections.
