APC Denies Consensus Candidate in Benue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has formally rejected reports suggesting that David Terzugwe Golozo has emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for the Gboko West (Gbemacha) State Constituency in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

In an official statement signed by the LGA chairman, Terfa Iorgilim, the party clarified that the information currently circulating on social media does not reflect its position at any level of its organisational structure.

The statement described the claim as “false, misleading, and entirely unauthorised,” adding that it appears to be a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and distort the party’s internal processes.

“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time has the APC in Gboko LGA adopted or endorsed any individual as a consensus candidate for the said constituency,” the statement read.

The party further emphasised that no decision of such nature had been approved by its ward structures, key stakeholders, or the State Working Committee. It maintained that the claim constitutes “political mischief” capable of generating unnecessary tension within both the party and the wider political landscape.

In addition, the APC warned those responsible for the dissemination of the report to retract it immediately, noting that disciplinary measures could be taken against any member found to be involved.

Reaffirming its commitment to due process, the party stated that candidate selection would be conducted in line with constitutional provisions and internal guidelines. It assured members and supporters that all official decisions would be communicated through established and credible channels.

The statement concluded by reiterating that there is currently no consensus candidate for the Gboko West (Gbemacha) State Constituency under the APC.
