ADC Crisis: FCT Chapter Backs David Mark, Rejects Dissent

The Federal Capital Territory chapter of the African Democratic Congress has reiterated its support for the party’s National Working Committee, led by David Mark, while distancing itself from recent remarks made by some state chairmen questioning the leadership.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Nwigbo Samuel, the chapter stressed the importance of unity and internal cohesion within the party.

It urged members to resolve disagreements through established internal mechanisms rather than taking disputes to court, warning that such actions could weaken the party and expose it to external interference.

“The FCT chapter of ADC firmly supports the National Working Committee under Senator David Mark and urges all members to align with this position in the interest of unity and progress.

“It is often said that a divided house cannot stand. We therefore advise any dissatisfied members to avoid unnecessary legal battles that may weaken the party and create opportunities for external forces to exploit. Instead, they should make use of the party’s established dispute resolution processes,” the statement said.

The chapter also called on party leaders at all levels to take proactive steps in restoring stability and strengthening internal harmony.

“We appeal for enduring peace and unity within our party. Let us embrace fairness and inclusiveness, ensuring that no member feels sidelined.

“We are confident that ADC will overcome its challenges and ultimately replace the current administration, which has negatively impacted the nation,” the statement added.

The FCT chapter maintained that sustained unity and adherence to party processes are essential for the ADC to remain competitive and effective in Nigeria’s political landscape.
