The Taraba State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Computer-Based Test across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, said the measures are designed to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free exercise for candidates, examination officials, and members of the public.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Morkwap Sebastian Dongshal, has ordered the strategic deployment of officers to all designated CBT centres and surrounding areas. The deployment will cover the period before, during, and after the examination to ensure adequate security at all times.
The command noted that the initiative aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at safeguarding lives and property throughout the nationwide examination.
In addition to personnel deployment, the police said they will intensify patrols, carry out intelligence-led surveillance, and implement traffic control measures to ensure smooth movement and prevent any disruption around examination venues.
Parents and guardians were advised to properly guide their wards to remain law-abiding and adhere strictly to examination guidelines, while candidates were urged to maintain discipline and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
The command warned that anyone found engaging in examination malpractice, impersonation, or any unlawful activity would face prosecution.
Reassuring residents of its commitment to maintaining security, the police encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
The statement also emphasized the command’s resolve to provide a safe and conducive environment for all participants during the examination period.
