The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has announced plans to provide a free training programme on strategic foresighting for selected nominees of Dapo Abiodun, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and institutional capacity in Ogun State.
The Director-General of NIPSS, Ayo Omotayo, made the disclosure during the opening ceremony of the third edition of the Strategic Leadership and Management Course (SLMC), held at the Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies in Ago-Iwoye.
According to him, the governor will nominate 20 participants for the specialised training, which is scheduled to take place between June and July 2026. He noted that the initiative reflects the Ogun State Government’s commitment to building human capacity and improving governance outcomes.
Omotayo commended the state for its consistent investment in leadership development, emphasizing that the effectiveness of governance is closely tied to the competence, foresight, and strategic thinking of public officials.
He explained that the ongoing Strategic Leadership and Management Course is designed to enhance strategic thinking, strengthen institutional performance, and equip senior public officers with the skills required to address the complexities of modern governance.
Declaring the programme open, the Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, described the course as a key element of the state’s public service reform efforts. He revealed that Ogun State has nominated 42 participants for the current edition, including Permanent Secretaries and other senior officials.
Onasanya added that the programme has grown in both scope and relevance over time, attracting participation from other states such as Lagos in previous editions. He encouraged participants to fully engage with the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.
In his welcome remarks, the Director of the School of Governance Studies, Sola Adeyanju, noted that the third edition builds on the successes of earlier programmes, offering a more refined and practical approach to leadership and policy development.
He also commended the Ogun State Government for its continued support, stating that the initiative is aimed at fostering a more responsive, efficient, and results-oriented public service.
The programme underscores the state’s broader commitment to administrative excellence and its goal of strengthening governance through sustained investment in leadership development.
