The Lagos State Police Command has ordered the deployment of officers and intelligence assets to all approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Lagos State to ensure a secure environment for the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, as part of efforts to guarantee a smooth and orderly examination process for candidates, officials, and other stakeholders.
In a statement released on Thursday via X by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the command said the move aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
She explained that officers assigned to the exercise have been directed to uphold high standards of professionalism, vigilance, and civility while carrying out their duties.
“They are expected to act decisively against any form of examination malpractice, disorderly behaviour, or security breach,” the statement said.
The command also noted that personnel will collaborate closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring of examination centres, surrounding areas, and key access routes.
The commissioner further urged candidates, parents, and guardians to cooperate fully with security operatives and adhere strictly to examination guidelines to ensure a seamless exercise.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
The 2026 UTME commenced nationwide on Thursday, with more than 2.2 million candidates expected to participate in the examination.
