Troops Destroy Terrorist Hideouts in Bauchi

Troops under Operation Safe Haven have dismantled suspected terrorist hideouts and recovered weapons during a combat patrol in Yankari forest and nearby areas within Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

This was disclosed by a counter-insurgency and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a post shared on X.

He explained that the operation took place around 5:30pm on March 20, carried out by troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade as part of sustained efforts to flush out criminal elements from the area.

According to him, the troops combed through the forest, where they uncovered multiple hideouts and staging points believed to be used by suspected terrorists.

“During the operation, troops successfully destroyed the identified hideouts and neutralised the threat within the general area,” he said.

He further stated that two dane guns were among the items recovered during the exercise.

Makama added that the mission was designed to restrict the movement of terrorists and strengthen security across the forested parts of the state.
