The wives of military personnel detained over an alleged conspiracy against President Bola Tinubu have made a public plea to the Federal Government, demanding that their husbands either face formal charges in court or be set free.
Gathering for a press conference in Abuja on Friday, the women some accompanied by their children expressed the mounting desperation of families who have been left in the dark.
A primary concern raised during the briefing was the lack of communication, as the families also demanded to be granted immediate access to their husbands.
According to the women, the families of the affected soldiers have lived with uncertainty, fear and unanswered questions. They argued that if the government has evidence of wrongdoing, it should be presented in a transparent legal setting.
GoNews report that Omoyele Sowore has stepped into the fray regarding the detention of several soldiers accused of conspiring against President Bola Tinubu.
They demanded for justice to be done openly in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The women said the past months have been deeply painful for their families.
The group further alleged that the public narrative has been one-sided and damaging. They said they have watched helplessly as narratives were presented to the public, subjecting their husbands to trial by the media, adding that some of them have faced intimidation by men in uniform.
The core of their message was a simple ultimatum to the authorities: “Charge our husbands to court or release them,” the women said.
