Taraba Students Seek Urgent Evacuation from Jos

The National Union of Taraba State Students (NUTAS), University of Jos chapter, has appealed to the Taraba State government to urgently evacuate students from areas affected by escalating security challenges.

In a letter addressed to Governor Agbu Kefas, the union expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of students currently residing in vulnerable locations.

The letter, signed by the union’s President, Sankun Solomon Gam, and Assistant Secretary-General, Samuel Anyar Bawun Bente, highlighted growing fear among students and their families due to the worsening security situation.

“Many students are currently exposed to unsafe conditions, and there is increasing fear and uncertainty among them and their families,” the letter stated.

The union called for immediate intervention by the state government, urging that affected students be relocated to safer areas as a matter of urgency.

It stressed that protecting students aligns with the government’s responsibility to safeguard its citizens, particularly young people who represent the future of the state.

NUTAS also expressed confidence in the governor’s willingness to respond promptly, noting that swift action would demonstrate the administration’s commitment to the welfare and safety of its indigenes.
