The Plateau State Government has eased restrictions in Jos North following the deadly violence in Angwan Rukuba, shifting the curfew to nighttime hours only.
From Wednesday, April 8, 2026, residents will be free to move between 6am and 6pm, while the curfew will now run from 6pm to 6am.
The update was confirmed in a statement issued Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap.
“Following the relative peace being experienced in Jos North Local Government Area after the attacks at Angwan Rukuba, the government in consultation with security agencies, has further relaxed the curfew hours earlier imposed on Jos North LGA,” the statement reads.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has also instructed security operatives to strictly enforce the revised curfew, with a focus on safeguarding lives and restoring stability.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors during restricted hours, cooperate with security personnel, and share any information that could support ongoing peace efforts.
The latest adjustment comes after an earlier relaxation of a 48-hour total lockdown introduced in response to the Angwan Rukuba attacks, which left 33 people dead.
