Trump Hints at US Action Against Cuba After Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that Cuba could be the next focus of American action following recent developments involving Iran.

He made this remark during a speech at the Future Investment Initiative conference held in Miami, Florida. His comment comes not long after the U.S. military operation in Venezuela on January 3, which led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

While speaking, Trump hinted at future plans, saying, “Cuba is next, by the way, but pretend I didn’t say that please. Pretend I didn’t say that. Please, please, please media, please disregard that statement. Thank you very much. Cuba’s next.”

Although the statement sounded somewhat offhand, it aligns with his administration’s increasing pressure on Cuba, especially as tensions continue to rise in the region.

Cuba, meanwhile, has been struggling with a deepening economic and energy crisis. Much of this situation has been linked to long-standing U.S. sanctions, which have significantly affected the country’s access to resources.

The United Nations has also raised concerns, warning that ongoing fuel shortages are worsening conditions on the island and pushing it closer to a humanitarian crisis.

Earlier this month, Trump had already indicated that Cuba’s government might not remain stable for long. However, he noted at the time that his administration’s immediate attention would remain on Iran before shifting focus elsewhere.
