Lagos State University and Federal University of Science and Technology Epe have refuted claims circulating online that the LASU Epe campus has been converted into the newly established federal university.
In a joint statement issued by the registrars of both institutions, Emmanuel A. Fanu and Kabiru Olawale Okugbesan, the universities described the reports as inaccurate and misleading.
The statement clarified that the Epe campus remains a fully functional part of LASU, continuing to host major academic units such as the Faculties of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, as well as the School of Agriculture and other programmes.
The institutions explained that Federal University of Science and Technology Epe is temporarily utilising certain facilities within the campus to support its initial operations under a collaborative arrangement.
However, they emphasised that this does not affect ownership or governance, noting that both institutions operate independently with distinct academic structures.
Reaffirming their position, the universities stated that the LASU Epe campus “has not been converted” into FUSTECH.
They urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
