Kcee Criticizes Influencer Culture in Music Industry

Kcee has expressed concern over the growing influence of digital personalities on the music industry, suggesting that the trend is reshaping how success is measured.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Intelligence hosted by Joey Akan, the artist argued that the expansion of influencer culture has disrupted the organic development of music, as well as streaming patterns and chart performance.

“Everyone can build an audience now and that is negatively affecting the music industry,” he stated.

While acknowledging that influencer-driven promotion offers certain advantages, Kcee maintained that its overall impact has been largely detrimental.

Similar concerns have been raised by Erigga, who previously argued that the growing role of tech-driven figures in talent discovery has contributed to a decline in music quality.
