The Lagos Police Command has taken a driver into custody following a fatal accident that claimed the life of a student of Lagos State University in the Igando area.
Details of the incident were shared on Saturday night via the command’s official X handle, @LagosPoliceNG, confirming that an investigation is already underway.
According to the update, the Divisional Police Officer in Igando responded quickly after receiving reports of the crash.
Authorities confirmed that the victim died from injuries sustained in the accident, and her remains have been moved to a mortuary.
The police also stated that the driver involved is currently in custody, while the vehicle has been seized as part of ongoing investigations.
The case has since been escalated to the Area Command for further handling.
Residents have been assured that due legal process will be followed, with the police urging the public to stay calm as investigations continue.
The development follows reports that the victim, a female student identified as Azeezat, was struck and killed by a vehicle around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in Igando.
