The Kano State Government has dismissed claims made by former commissioner Shehu Wada Sagagi regarding the political decision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing the remarks as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government rejected allegations that the governor’s move was driven by fear of failing to secure a second-term ticket under the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
The statement clarified that the decision was not influenced by political uncertainty but was instead aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development in Kano State. It described the claim as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and distort the purpose behind the governor’s action.
According to the government, the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen cooperation and ensure that governance delivers meaningful benefits to residents across the state.
The administration also dismissed suggestions about concerns over the governor’s political future, pointing to his strong support base and performance record.
Reaffirming its priorities, the government said it remains committed to its “Kano First” agenda, which focuses on improving welfare, infrastructure, economic growth, and social stability.
“We urge the public to disregard the statement as it does not reflect the true state of affairs,” the government said.
It added that it would remain focused on governance and would not be distracted by what it described as baseless claims.
