Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed that two of its employees have been abducted in the Ogun region, raising fresh concerns over the safety of workers in the area.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the company’s management and made available in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. According to the statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
“Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) confirms that two of its staff members in the Ogun region were abducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time.”
The company stated that it is actively collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted workers.
“IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected staff. We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support.”
Due to the ongoing nature of the situation, IBEDC noted that it would not be releasing further details for now.
“Given the sensitive nature of this incident and ongoing efforts to resolve it, we are unable to provide further details at this time.
“We kindly request understanding and restraint as we prioritise the safety and well-being of those involved. We will provide updates as appropriate.”
