Gunmen Kidnap Wakili Fulani in Plateau, Demand N2m Ransom

Suspected gunmen have abducted a community leader identified as the Wakili Fulani in Kara village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, in an incident that has heightened security concerns in the area.

The development was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency analyst focused on the Lake Chad region, who shared details of the attack in a post on X.

According to him, the abduction took place at about 7:42 a.m. on May 3, prompting an immediate response from troops of Sector 4 under Operation Safe Haven, working in collaboration with local security agencies.

On arrival at the scene, the joint security team discovered that the attackers had taken the victim from his residence before fleeing with his motorcycle.

Makama further disclosed that the kidnappers later contacted the victim’s family using his mobile phone, demanding a ransom of N2 million for his release.

Security forces have since intensified efforts to rescue the abducted leader and track down those responsible.

“The troops have launched search and rescue operations to track down the perpetrators and secure the victim’s release.

“Patrols and surveillance have been intensified across the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents,” he said.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as operations are underway to restore calm and ensure the safe return of the victim.
